Latest Information on Negotiations of Categories 2 & 3 Allowances

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE

FAIR WAGES AND SALARIES COMMISSION

Dear Sir,

NEGOTIATION OF CATEGORIES 2&3 ALLOWANCES FOR PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYEES IN EDUCATION NON-TERTIARY SECTOR CLASSIFICATION

You will recall that on 23rd June 2011 Unions in the Education Non-Tertiary Service Classification submitted a comprehensive proposal on categories 2&3 allowances for employees in the Classification to your office per our letter referenced 0549CVol11/48/11

In paragraph 2 of the letter of conveyance, the Unions requested that your office (FWSC) convene a meeting of the Standing Joint Negotiation Committee of the service classification representatives to begin the negotiation process.

It is regrettable to note that six (6) months have elapsed without any reaction to this request. We believe that as an institution legally-mandated to negotiate remuneration issues of public sector employees, the FWSC would not do anything to its authority by such inaction.

Please take note that the employees in the above category have had their patience stretched far enough over six (6) months. We therefore request that a  meeting of the Joint Standing Committee of the Education Non- Tertiary Service Classification, be convened soonest,  to commence business by January 17, 2012.

Whilst thanking you in advance for complying with our request, your earliest response would go a long way, to avoid further complications.

Yours faithfully,

Irene Duncan Adanusa (Mrs)
