New National Minimum Wage

NATIONAL TRIPARTITE COMMITTEE COMMUNIQUE


The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) concluded consultations on the 2012 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) at its meeting held on Wednesday, 8th February, 2012.
It was agreed that the National Daily Minum Wage be raised by Twenty percent (20%), that is, from GHc3.73 to GHc4.48.
The effective date of implementation is 9th February, 2012.
Any establishment, institution or organization whose daily minimum wage is below the new National Daily Minimum Wage should adjust its wages upward accordingly.
The National Tripartite Committee recommends that the National Daily Minimum Wage should be tax exempt.
The national Tripartite Committee reiterates its commitment to the improvement of incomes and productivity in both the private and public sectors.
